TACOMA, Wash. (Jan. 18) - Investigators were examining pieces of the drive train from an oversized truck Sunday to learn why parts tore off the truck and struck and killed a 6-year-old boy and injured another spectator at a monster truck show.

Witnesses described the boy, Sebastian Hizey, being struck in the head by a Frisbee-sized chunk of metal that tore off a truck doing doughnuts during the Monster Jam show Friday night in the Tacoma Dome.

Police gathered loose parts of the drive train and the drive train loop, a special monster truck device that is supposed to hold the drive train on the vehicle, Bill Easterling, senior operations director for Feld Motor Sports of Aurora, Ill., told The Associated Press on Sunday.
He said he could give no further details or description of the loose parts, including where they were found. "I've never seen the loop or the drive shaft parts come off like this," said Easterling, whose company is the promoter of the show.
Tacoma police Officer Mark W. Fulghum said no further information on the parts or other aspects of the investigation would be available before Monday at the earliest.
The second spectator struck by debris was taken to a hospital, but authorities haven't disclosed his name or condition.
Monster truck shows have been a staple at the Tacoma Dome for more than 20 years, featuring vehicles weighing 9,000 pounds or more and equipped with 5-foot tires. Drivers pop wheelies and engage in competition.

Feld has "a stellar safety record" with no prior significant accidents in Tacoma, said Mike Combs, city director of public assembly facilities.
The boy's father, Jessie Hizey of Puyallup, told The News Tribune of Tacoma, a metal ring weighing 7 to 12 pounds sheared off part his son's skull. They and other relatives were sitting in grandstands 20 to 25 feet above the arena floor.
Jessie Hizey said the red and silver truck, Natural High, at first failed to start and was hauled away by forklift. It returned to the show, and the metal ring flew from under the truck as it was spinning in tight circles in the mud.
"You go out for a night of fun, and you lose your son," Hizey said in a whisper, his face twisted in grief.
Easterly told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer the driver of Natural High was "absolutely devastated."

Boy, 4, Shoots Babysitter For Stepping On His Foot

What the fuck is wrong with the world? As a responsible gun owner with kids, I would never leave my firearms loaded where my kids could get them. At the end it says the child won't be charged. His parents should be charged with negligence.

Boy, 4, Shoots Babysitter For Stepping On His Foot
JACKSON, Ohio (AP) ―

Police say a 4-year-old boy in southern Ohio shot his babysitter because the sitter accidentally stepped on his foot. Police said 18-year-old Nathan Beavers and several other teenagers were babysitting several young children in a mobile home in Jackson on Sunday when the shooting occurred.

Witnesses told police the 4-year-old retrieved the shotgun from a bedroom closet and shot Beavers. Police said the child was angry because Beavers accidentally stepped on his foot.

Beavers was hospitalized with minor pellet wounds to his arm and side.

Police say another teen was also injured with shotgun pellets.

Jackson County Sheriff John Shashteen said authorities are investigating the shooting. The child has not been charged

Birds Playoff Tickets Won't Come Cheap

A quick look at Ticketmaster.com shows tickets starting at $120 each way up in nose bleed territory. I think I'll save my money and sit my ass on the sofa and watch the game on the 42 inch plasma.

Eagles fans looking to crash the Giant party in the Meadowlands may have to fork over some major dough.

The tough reality is that prices are sure to shoot up as more Eagles fans decide to make the short trip up the Jersey Turnpike to Giants Stadium to bleed Eagles green on the road.

As of Monday night the most expensive seat on StubHub.com is going for $3,500. The club level seat offers superb views along the 50-yard line.

The cheapest seat on Stub Hub isn’t so cheap -- $199 will buy a single ticket in the upper deck end zone. Nosebleed seats for sure.

It seems that even parking passes cost more up in North Jersey as parking passes cost up to $200 a piece for the game on StubHub.

Fans looking for a slightly lower vantage point than the upper deck can sit in the second row of the end zone for $350 thanks to a post on Philadelphia Craigslist.

Fans willing to deal with Giants fans for their ticket can fare a bit better by going on New York City Craigslist. It only costs $250 a ticket to sit in section 120.

Maybe Eagles fans can far better on eBay where dozen tickets are available at auction.

For those Birds fans lucky enough to already have a ticket to see the battle enjoy it and hopefully next week you will be shopping for tickets to Carolina or, even better, Phoenix.
